Tony Awards Lots of Tony Awards news. In a long-overdue decision, the Tony Awards Administration Committee  has decided to reinstate the Best Sound Design categories , which had been eliminated after the 2013-2014 season. The categories, as well as a new voting process for that and the Best Orchestrations category, will be effective starting with the upcoming 2017-2018 season. Broadway.com has more. Tony Award nominations for this season will be announced May 2.   Baayork Lee , a member of the original A Chorus Line company, will receive the honorary Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award in recognition of her humanitarian work. Coming to the Boards Broadway Transfer —The fantastic Joshua Harmon play, Significant Other , will transfer to Broadway next year. Significant Other played at Roundabout Theatre's off-Broadway venue last summer, and was fantastic. ( It was one of my favorite things of the year .) Much like Harmon's Bad Jews , Significant Other is unflinchingly honest, and full of both comedy and pathos. Previews will begin in February 2017, and an opening night will be scheduled for March. Exact dates, a theatre, and casting have yet to be announced. The off-Broadway iteration featured Gideon Glick and Lindsay Mendez, giving knock out performances, and was directed by Trip Cullman. James Earl Jones and Cicely Tyson Return to Broadway The veteran actors will star in a revival of D.L. Coburn 's The Gin Game . As Playbill notes , this is the first time Tony winners James ( The Best Man , You Can't Take It With You ) and Tyson ( The Trip to Bountiful ) will be on Broadway together since 1966, when they played in A Hand is on the Gate . Previews will begin September 21, with opening night set for October 13. Directed by Leonard Foglia , The Gin Game is slated for the intimate Golden Theatre.
