(Scroll down to find out if Leonardo DiCaprio is coming to Broadway!) Award Season Update BAFTA Awards —The last of the major awards shows before the Oscars, the BAFTA Awards were presented last weekend. (BAFTA is the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.) Adding another trophy to its mantle, 12 Years a Slave took home the Best Film honor, as did its star, Chiwetel Ejiofor . In a surprise win, Jennifer Lawrence ( American Hustle ) beat 12 Years ' Lupita Nyong'o for Best Supporting Actress.  The Hollywood Reporter 's awards guru, Scott Feinberg, has some insight into what Lawrence's win means for her Oscar hopes . The magazine also has the full list of winners , as well as red carpet pics . (As always, Nyong'o stunned in Dior and Leonardo DiCaprio looked perfect in his tuxedo.) Academy Awards —Final voting is underway for the Oscars, which are less than two weeks away. (Oscar night is Sunday, March 2.) The Hollywood Reporter 's Feinberg brin...

SAG Awards Wrap Up

Image
And so we have the 20th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards under our belts. The full list of winners is below, but first, of course, is the fashion. First up, Metallica. Or, rather, a group of ladies who wore metallic and looked great. From left, we have Breaking Bad 's Anna Gunn in Monique Lhuiller, Game of Thrones 's  Emilia Clarke , and Downton Abbey 's Laura Carmichael in Vionnet. Below, we have the Osage ladies, who were, um, OK, but maybe they should have come to the big city for their dresses. Abigail Breslin , in Chagoury, looks too mature for her young age, while co-star Juliette Lewis (who always cracks me up, whether or not she means to) looks exactly like Juliette Lewis in Vivienne Westwood. Meanwhile, Meryl Streep just looks poor. That is, she looks like she couldn't afford to pay designer Stella McCartney to finish the dress. Such a shame.  Next we have some simple but stunning looks. From left: Jennifer Garner ( Dallas Buyers ...

86th Academy Awards Nominees

Image
The 86th Academy Award nominations were announced today! Without any further ado, here are the nominees: Best Picture American Hustle Captain Phillips Dallas Buyers Club Gravity Her Nebraska Philomena 12 Years a Slave The Wolf of Wall Street Since there are only nine nominees and not ten, I can say I've seen more than half the nominees. But since there are nine instead of ten, Inside Llewyn Davis  is left off the list. Are the Academy nominators taking crazy pills? I'm glad to see the Her  made it on but to leave off Inside Llewyn Davis ? Anyway, this is the start of the showdown between American Hustle  and  12 Years a Slave . The former has 10 nominations and the latter has nine; the only reason 12 Years a Slave  has nine is because it did not have a contender in the lead actress category. If not for that, it'd be a dead heat between the two. I think 12 Years a Slave  should win, and if Academy voters can get over their squeamishness an...

Golden Globes Wrap Up

Image
The Golden Globes, which honor both film and television, have been handed out. (The Globes are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, HFPA.) Below is the full list of winners but first, as always, the fashion. Let's start off with my runner up for best dressed, Cate Blanchett . The Oscar winning actress (who can now be seen in Blue Jasmine ) wore a beautiful Armani black lace gown. She looked statuesque in the great red carpet-ready dress, with its high neck and detailed cut. And that was before we even saw the back, which featured a daring cut out. Blanchett looked sophisticated and poised, and I dug her tucked-under hair.  Next are a few column(ish) dresses. From left to right, Kata Mara in J Mendel; Kerry Washington in Balenciaga; and Margot Robbie in Gucci. Mara ( House of Cards ) shows off her new blonde tresses and some serious curves in this stunning silver number. Washington ( Scandal ) shows off her baby bump in the Balenciaga frock. It's f...
